INTERVIEW WITH RT. HON. PRIME MINISTER. AT CHRISTCHURCH, JUNE stli. The following is the list of matters to he brought before the Rt. Hon. AY. V. Massey, by Mr W. Jeffries, County Chairman of AYestland, at Christchurch to-day: 1. —Otira Tunnel. —Speedy opening of through traffic for passengers, parcels, and mails; dairy produce and live fnl stock, at the earliest possible moment. 2. AVaitangi Bridge, South Westland.—lmmediate prosecution of this work, tile want of which is the missing link for through motor traffic to \\ aiho Glacier.

3. Royalties Commission.—The setting ii)i of tlic Royal Commission pursuant to Section 40 of Finance Act, 1921, to determine revenue payable to Local Bodies in respect to local revenues now’appropriated by the Forestry Department. 4. Highway Bill.—To urge that the schedule of the Bill to be considered by Parliament, contain provision for tiie recognised main south road Ironi Hokitika to ITaast Pass the major portion of which is through Crown Lands. 5. Hospital Subsidies. —Reintroduetiim of Hospital Subsidies Bill, giving tix poorer districts an increased subsidy on contributions to public hospitals in proportion to tlie local rate struck to meet the Hospital Board levy for general maintenance, as recommended by Public Health Department, and Royal Commission which analysed and repotted on tiie position for last session. (j. Railway “Cut”.—To restore the Mokitikn-Ross railway service, which is proving very inconvenient to the public, and throwing heavy motor lorry traffic on to the roads, the bridges of which are not considered safe lor the heavy traffic involved.

7. Prospecting.—To favorably consider the inauguration by the Mines Department of a gold prospecting scheme in Westland over back country traversed and favorably reported on by Dr Bell, Government Geologist. 8. Wells Bros’ ease, re agricultural land being taken for a forestry nursery at Back Creek. Hokitika river bang.
