The whole affair is shrouded in mystery. Stewart, the son of a nearby settler, declared he hoard four shots in quick succession. The victim was a most inoffensive man, and had resided in the Dominion for many yoais, at one. time on the goldfields at Oreymouth. lie had accumulated wealth, and p*ob- ., I,! v robbery was tie* motive, though ! nothing is missing apparently.
