After examining 210,000 persons, principally natives in Australia and l’apua, the Federal Department of Health demonstrated that hookworm was non-existent in Victoria. Tasmania. South Australia and West Australia, with the exception of tlu* north-west.
Tlie disease is found to he limited in extent to the coastal regions of Queensland. North Australia and north coast of New South Wales. Seventy-four per cent, of persons examined in New Guinea had the disease, fifty-nine per cent, in Papua. In Queensland the figures varied from .T to 1 I per cent.
