There was a huge crowd at the King Edward Barracks to witness the fight between Brian MeCleary (Christchurch) Slid Albert I’ooley (Auckland), for the professional heavy-weight championship of New Zealand and a purse £l9O. The contest went the full 15 rounds MeCleary was adjudged tlio winner on points. I’oolev put up a good light, but Me Cleary was too clever.

,\t fhe Sydney Stadium, Vince Blaekburn knocked out Jack Green in the |,'ltli round. The finish came as a surprise. Green had all the better of the contest till the 13th round, when Blackburn landed heavy blows right to the point of Green’s dim. Following ifp this advantage he doored Green who took the count.
