lONIC ARRIVES. WELLINGTON, May 15. The lonic, which arrived at Wellington on Sunday, was berthed to-day. She brought 82 saloon and 441 steerage passengers, a total of 523. Mensles broke out during the voyage but was not serious und was confined to the third class passengers, half a. dozen children being attacked. The last case occurred on April 29. Two days before the vessel reached port Mrs M. Morris fell and broke one of her legs. CLOSED DOWN. GISBORNE, Alay 17. The Tokomaru Bay Works of the Gisborne Sheepfnruiers’ Company closed down to-day for the winter. The decision was the result of the action of tho employees in refusing to work at the reduced scale of pay, authorised by the Arbitration Court.
