Hokitika School Committee.
The Committed met last evening at 7.30 o’clock. Present: —Messrs AY. H. .Shannon (Chairman), D. Stevenson, I Brace, Aitken, Lloyd, Richards and j Preston (Hon, Sec.) j The minutes were confirmed and correspondence outward approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Canterbury Board in connection with application for subsidy on eontri-j biition from voluntary donations.—Received ; to lie attended. From Education Board forwarding the application of Miss Marion Hick-j ell recommended for appointment as' sole teacher at South Spit.—Received; Appointment approved, j From Teacher Soiith Spit reporting average attendance; hoys 9.0, girls 0.8. Total 10.4 out of roll number of 23, tho lower attendance being duo to illness the school then being closed for two weeks.—Received; action of chairman in authorising requirements was approved. | From Rector reporting for month ending April 30th, the attendance average was 370.6 out of a roll number of 407; that the recent storm bad done considerable damage which required attention at once.—Received; the Chairman stated the overseer (Mr Bignell) had authorised him to give immediate attention to the fences. The work to
be attended to at once. , | The Visiting Committee failed to report and the same members were reappointed. Some small accounts were passed for payment . | The Committee rose at 7.55 p.m.
