WELLINGTON, April 27

Wellington, in .January 1023, is to lie the gathering place of scientific moil from nil parts of Australasia. 'I lie Australasian Association for the A’dvancement of Science, the objects of which are apparent in its title, will hold in this city its fifteenth meeting. Meetings have been held in all the principal towns in the Commonwealth and New Zealand at intervals of two or three years since 1888. No meetings, lioweyor, were held between 191.1 and 1920. 111,, objects of the Association are officially given as follows: “To give a stronger impulse and more systematic direction to scientific enquiry, to promote intercourse between thos 0 who cultivate scicnco in different parts of the Commonwealth of I Australia, the Dominion of New Zen- I land, and in other countries, to ob-

tain more general attention to the objects of science, and th<» removal of disadvantages of a public kind which may impede progress.” Tho meeting will take the form of public lectures and scientific discussions, besides excursions and various social ftmeions. At a meeting of tho' Wellington committee, Professor Kirk in the chair, a number of sub-committees wore appointed. It was decided to ask the heads of all local public institutions to co-operate and by this means a- large reception committee will he formed. Scientific societies in other centres will also lie asked to assist in making the gathering a success.
