CHERRIE—GRIFFITHS
The marriage was celebrated at the English Church, AYestport, on Thursday, April l.Jtli, of Gwendolyn l.iuette. second daughter of Air and Airs James Griffiths, Birclilield, to William Robert, youngest son of Air and the late Airs Cherrie of Grcymouth. The bride, who was given away by her lather, was charmingly attired in while gaibadinc and was attended bv her sister, Aliss Rona Griffiths. Both carried beautiful bouquets. Air Jack Cherrie, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Canon Courscy. After the ceremony, a large number of guests were entertained at a sumptuous wedding breakfast at Bradley’s Tea Rooms, where the usual toasts were honored. Later, Miami Airs Cherrie left by special ear en route to Christchurch, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The presents, which were both numerous and costly, testified to the esteem in which the happy couple are held. The bridegroom, who was a Sergeant-Major in the X.Z.E.F., served with distinction in the late war, having been decorated with both the D.C.AI. and ALAI. Their future home is to he taken up at Ross, where Air Cherrie has a sawmilling business.
