The postponed cycling and athletic sports were hold on Cass Square yesterday afternoon in favourable weather, and passed off very successfully. There was a large attendance and the mooting was excellently conducted. The sport was [Too.-l and well sustained, all the events being got off well to time, enabling the northern visitors to catch the outward evening train without ineonveieiiieci. The officials worked enthusiastically and left nothing to he desired. The Municipal Band attended and played an acceptable programme, l There Were several sideshows to attract and interest the public, and the holders of the refreshment rights did well. ■ The afternoon tel* booth, however, was greatly missed by the ladies and this should be provided for at future gatherings.
