COST OF FURNITURE,
REDUCED PRICES

Enquiries made to-day us to the cost of furniture and furnishings elicited the information that generally there has been a marked fall in prices during the past twelve or eighteen months. The prices of some lines, it was stated, were from 25 to 30 per cent, lower to-day than they were a. year ago. In other lines, however, the reduction was much smaller. Regarding loeally-maide furniture, one (inn said that there had been a reduction of from 10 to 15 per cent, in wholesale prices. The retail trade had been, di-organised during the past six months, owing to stock dealing sales, at which goods had been offered at below cost. However, trade had How been stabilised, with prices generally 15 to 20 per cent, lower than twelve or fifteen'months ago. In cheap furniture there had been a heavy reduction.
.In upholstered lines there has been also a considerable reduction, owing to the lower cost of fabrics.
CROCKERY PRICES
