ADJINGTON STOCK MARKET, j ' ■■ i I A LARGE GATHERING. 1 (By .elegraph—Special to guardian.) j CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. ! Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Store Sheep—Another large yarding ajul most of the entry was cleared at auction. Best sound mouthed ewes from 16s to ‘2ls 6d; best two tooth ewes up to 245. Best forward wethers from 17,s to 20s (id ; best rape lambs from 16s to 19s sd. Others from 12s 6d to 16s. The market generally was firm all round. Store Cattle.—A fairly large yarding, but a very nondescript entry. Except for any good sorts of young heifers, the market was dull and a fair number i, were passed at auction. 3 year steers j ;C4 10s to £4 17 s Bd; 2 to 2* year; I steers £2 10s to £3 12s Bd ; yearlings ; j 25s to 30s. Best 21 year heifers £3 , 15s to £4 15s; yearling and 18 months , £2 15s to £3 ss; yearlings 30s to 455; ; cows 25s to £2. One pen of extra , good up to £4. j Beef. —Another large yarding, m- ; eluding a large proportion of inferior , quality beef. All good quality was | about the same as last week, hut in- j ferior and unfinished sorts showed a j decline on last week’s rate. Prime steers £8 10s to £l2 ss, extra to £l3 17s Bd, medium £6 10s to £8 ss; others £4 to £6 ss. Heifers £5 10s to £7 15s; extra to £11; others £4 to £5 ss. Prime cows 05 to £6 10s, others £2 5s to £4 10s. Mutton.—Another fairly large yarding, mostly ewes, hut some excellent lines of wethers were yarded. The market was firm at last week’s rates and if anything, a trifle firmer. All classes sold well and freezing buyers operated keenly for light and medium sheep. Prime wethers 22s to 26s Bd, extia to 345; medium 19s to 21s Bd. r.wcs showed a little quotable difference from 1 last week. To lambs there was an- : other large yarding, about 7000 being yarded. The market if anything win j slightly firmer than last week, being i about Bld over all.
