Cook after the fight said:—“l was beaten by a better man.” Beckett said:— “Cook is a good clean fighter, but he was guilty of holding. 1 was slow owing to the results of influenza. J have a great ambition to meet Carpentier.” The “Daily Chronicle” says:—“lt was a terribly poor exhibition. A good man would have beaten either of the contestants. Neither had any initiative. What one did depended on what the other did. The contest would not do credit to a suburban show.
