Drowning Tragedy
WOMAN AND CHILDREN VICTIMS. SYDNEY, March 30 From every quarter, drowning or shark tragedies are being reported. The latest fatality, which occurred at Brisbane, was witnessed by the husband and father of the woman and children who were drowned. Mr and Mrs Ernest West and their two children, a girl of eight and a boy of live, were fishing from a boat at the mouth of Tnllabudgera creek, Burleigh Heads. The lather threw out the anchor, which fouled a rock. The force of the current pulled the bows under the water, and the craft capsized. Though West tried to rescue his wife and two children, the current was too strong, and they were quickly carried out to sea and drowned. West got ashore safely, only to realise that his wife and children were drifting out, and even the bodies were not recovered. The gruesomeness of the fatality is added to by the faet that eight or nine huge sharks were seen swimming in the vicinity just before the wife and children disappeared.
