STAFFORD NEWS

(Our own Correspondent.)

bii Thursday and Saturday evenings last, well attended meetings representative of the whole district were held at the Stafford Literary Institute for the purpose of arranging a send off social and dance to Mr and Mrs D. M. Behan and family who will be leaving Stafford nexlt Thursday for Wellington.

I have never witnessed- a more whole-hearted meeting; one and all showing tlieir desire that our departing friends should have ample proof of the esteem in which they are held by the whole population. And I am convinced that the social will not only be largely attended, but will be a most successful.

The ladies and gentlemen, who always supply the music for dancing, songs etc. wjill be present in full force; and our generous M.C. will take charge of the floor, so those items are assured. The ladies have the matter of refreshments well in hand, and as far as I am able to judge this affair will be one of the best ever held in Stafford. The admission will be free to all and .a hearty welcome extended to them. As the advertisement in this issue of the “Guardian” will show tho Social is to take place on Tuesday evening, April 11th. inst.
