THE IRISH PROBLEM.
ANL N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. 4 girl and raider shot. LONDON, March 28. Annie Harkan aged 23, was shot dead while she and her sister were attempting to cover the retreat of her father and brother from a house at Grallagh, during a raid by armed men in the early morning. The brother and father escaped. One of the raiders was found dead a short distance from tha House.
BELFAST TRAIN DESTROYED. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 29
A mixed mail and goods train fiom . Belfast to Dublin was derailed near Adavoyle. Then a force of armed men surrounded the train and set fire to the waggons and destroyed all goods from Belfast. The postal van was also destroyed.
MORE MISCHIEF. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 29
A train from Enniskillen to Slige was also held up, and goods from Northern Ireland burned. A large force from the Free state captured the Beloo police barracks in County Fermanagh, and carried off lo police.
IRISH CONFERENCE OPENS,

The Irish Conference has opened at the Colonial Office. The British delegates are Hon Churchill, Worthington Evans, Peel, Greenwood and Birkenhead. Ulster is represented by Sir J. Craig, E. M. Archdalb (Minister oi Agriculture and Commerce), and Lord Londonderry (Minister of Education). Southern Ireland is represented by Griffiths, Collins, Duggan and Higgins.
MORE FIRES AND BOMBS. LONDON, March 28. Further fires have occurrled at Belfast.
While a. small crowd collected to watch a fire at a jam factory, a bomb was thrown, injuring three persons.

Two hundred and fifty clerks in the Royal Irish Constabulary and Pensions Office at Dublin announced a strike to-day, unless the British Governments grant an immediate demobilisation with one year’s salary. They declare their lives are not safe in Southern Ireland, and they wish to leave .with the means to establish homes elsewhere.

In the House of Commons, Hon Chamberlain announced the following resolution which Hon Lloyd George will .move on Monday:—“That the House approves of tli-e resolutions passed at Cannes as a basis for the Genoa Confeience, and supports the Government in its endeavour to give effect thereto.
