INFLUENZA
THE MINISTER’S APPEAL. [by TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, March 28. Latest reports from San Francisco state during the week ended February 18th., there were 1,034 eases of influenza and seventeen deaths. The outbreak in California seems to be mild. The Minister of Health stated yesterday that the effort to clean up the cities of the Dominion ought not to be relaxed during the next few months. There bad been a death from septicaemia plague in Sydney in the past week and medical men stated the best safeguard against influenza was vigorous health in the individual, and this health must be based upon personal and public cleanliness. Too much care cannot be exercised at the ports, especially witli regards ,to shipping from Australia and America.
