PRESS INSURANCE SCHEME.
LONDON, March 21
A most dramatic case has arisen at Norwich. A widespread newspaper scheme was initiated there as a New Year advertising dodge. The insurances provided include those for sickness, fire, street, railway, and motoring accidents. The papers are competing in generosity and in promptitude in payment. A fire recently broke out in the bouse of Frederick George, a greengrocer, in which his wife, son, and daugjher were burned to death. George escaped. The jury, at the inquest, added a rider that George should have made a greater attempt to save bis family. The coroner lias since again referred to the case, saying: “ George had insured his wife and family in the newspaper scheme for £250, which was promptly paid. Hie must have immediately written for it to the newspaper. Tf I had known this at the time of the inquest, the verdict might have been different. Under the circumstances, it looks like a serious case against George. I have communicated with the police.”
