COMEDY OF TWO WIVES. ROME, Jan. 22. A comic version of the judgment of Solomon has taken place at a trial for bigamy at Ancona. During t e each of the two women in the case generously desired to leave the accused man, Umberto Faggi, to the other. When the judge pointed out that Fag,yj was the'husband of the one be h, married first, this one arose m court and said, “But, sir, I have arranged so well since my husband left me that I really should not know what to do with him now! Do give him to Maddalena Panteghin!” (the second “wife”). , The judge, however, refused to accept this suggestion and condemned Faggi to 18 months’ imprisonment. When the sentence was read, both women 1 mrst out crying and rushed to embrace the prisoner, who was obliged to support one with his right arm and the other with his left until the police carried him off to prison.
COPPER FIND. PARTS, Jan. 3. Copper reefs at least 200 and perhaps 600 miles long have been discovered in French Morocco by the American mining engineer, Mr Frank Gardner, according to a despatch to the “ Philadelphia Public Ledger.” The average width is Ift, and the greatest depth of the seams 150 ft. A quarter of a million tons of mineral are stated to be lying exposed on the surface. Mr Gardner, with engineers disguised as natives, is busy prospecting Morocco.
