'l'he United States fawn Tennis Association announced it will suggest D'o preliminary Davis Cup matches be play, ed in the various countries of Europe, pointing out the primary object of the Davis tournament is to assist to spread tlie interest in tennis throughout the world. It was at first thought i\ would involve a minimum of expense if the first and second round matches were played, in United States, but now thinks that the additional expenses would not be justified. It announced that the dates set for completion of the Davis matches are first ties by 24th June, second by 15th. July, semifinals by 29th July and final by Bth. August. PARIS, March 18. A Congress of International Lawn Tennis Federation adopted a resolution abolishing the system of challenge rounds in the world’s championship.
