A fire at midnight in the buildings on sections leased by the Railway Department, Station Street, gutp'd Hannah’s billiard saloon, Tviiimmer’s seedman shop, H.B. “Herald” Agency office. Tlie adjoining premises on either side occupied by Kessell (bootshop) and Charles (fruiterer) were slightly damaged The destroyed buildings were the property of W. P. Fitzgerald. The origin of the fire is unknown.

AUCKLAND CRIMINAL CASES AUCKLAND. March 13.

Norman Stewart Ward, 23, was committed for sentence on two charges of breaking and entering shops. Alfred Hinton, 38, was committed for sentence on two charges of forging ami uttering cheques. A youth, Andrew Peter Jenson, was committed for sentence for stealing a Post "Office Savings Bank deposit hook, and forging the name of the depositor for £l2.
