A PRISONERS’ .ESCAPADE. WELLINGTON, March 13
A daring and seemingly ingenious escape from gaol was accomplished yesterday morning by Charles Campbell Dawkins, who managed to get away from Terrace Gaol. His freedom was brief, however, for he had ill luck, as he ran, into a prison warder who was just coming on duty. Dawkins was promptly detained and taken back to gaol, after being away only about ten minutes. WIRELESS TELEPHONY. AUCKLAND, March 13. An operator on the Waihemo which arrived from San Francisco on Sunday, heard wireless telephone messages from Melbourne when 2308 miles distant. He heard a voice plainly despite the fact that twenty stations and vessels were heard at the same time. TELEPHONE CHARGES. WELLINGTON, March 13. Replying to a question Mr Massey said no proposals providing for an increase in telephone charges have been submitted to Cabinet and moreover I have reason for believing that no proposals have even come before the Post-master-General.
