The results of the former .examinations and of equivalent examinations have been taken into account: —

Passed the examination: McLeod, Edwin George (Auckland). Passed in five or more subjects: L"vatt, Cyrus Roy (Wellington), Larcy, William Emerson (Christchurch). Passed .in four subjects: Adams, Trevor Ahvyn (Wellington), Malcolm, lan McLean (Wellington), Raeburn, John Lindsay (Wellington).

Passed in two subjects: Gandell, Alan Thomas (Greymoutli), O’Hara, William Keith Mackv (Auckland).

Passed the Public Service entrance examination held in November, 1921: McLateHie, George Lorimer (Oamaru). His position in order of merit is 615.

THE “EDUCATION GAZETTE.”

WELLINGTON, Feb 24

The Minister of Education, interviewed in regard to the ‘‘Education Gazette,” which it was stated the Govern ment intended to withdraw, said there had been a misunderstanding. Cabinet bad never decided to withdraw the publication. Mr Parr added that Mr Ma -• sey put through the Education Supplementary Estimates in his (Mr Parr’s' unavoidable absence. It appeared that Mr S. G. Smith objected to the 'item Mr Massey replied that he believed tkar Cabinet had discontinued the “Gar'.otto,” meaning the “Health Journal. - Mr Parr said that had he been present in the House tills misapprehension would not have oceured. Tap “Gazette” would go on, but the cost would he reduced to less than £3OO per an mini. It served a useful purpose Against its cost, r eonomies in the Dopenrtment had resulted in a saving of about £130,000 per annum. NELSON FIRE. NELSON, Feb. 25,

A fire this morning destroyed the stables of the Port horse-bus service, Ha.ven Road, leased by T. Williams and owned by the estate of C. Y. Fell. One horse was burnt to death and three buses and their contents .destroyed. Th© building was insured for £350 and its contents for £350.
