Kumara Borough Council
- At a meeting of the Council on Thursday evening letters were received from D. J. Evans, Hokitika, re Westland War Memorial; from Otago Hospital asking co-operation in protesting against the exhorbitant fees charged by tlie Government for audit fees; from the .Public Works Department, asking for lithograph or tracing showing tlie piece of road the Council wishes the -Commission to .deal with.— Resolved the Town Clerk draw up plan for submission .to the Department, and also that the Mayor, Cr Burrell, and •the Town Clerk confer wjtfi the ov :- s cr of roads re the proportion of traffic over same.
The Chairman of Public Works .Committee reported that about .ten days’ work .had been done i.n .the borough since last meeting.
The Chairman of Reserves reported that the cemetery was. in a bad slat 1 ar.d should be attended to. A P ian should he put oil for a day or two to clear it up.—lt was resolved to have thie necessary work attended 10.
C r Spiers drew attention to the state of the water supply pipes, and considered that heavily-laden lorries crossing the pipes at the intersections of streets had a detrimental effect on them.
Tenders were received for leasing the recreation ground till Jlecember 31, 1922, with the result that the tender of D. Mclntosh, being the highest, was accepted.
C!r Brayshaw tendered his resignation as Councillor as he was leaving the district for at least 12 months. The resignation was accepted with regret.
