CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. BLENHEIM, Feb. 24. 'A writ has boon issued by AA T . T. Mansfield, late Town Clerk and Borough Engineer, against Blenheim Borough Council claiming £I,OOO starling for alleged wrongful dismissal. The ease is set down for hearing at .the Supreme Court next mo*th.
A COMPLIMENT. AA 7 ELLINGTON, Feb. 24. A compliment has Been paid New Zealanders by Air AVilbur, Consul General for United States, who announces that lie has sent a dispatch to AA’h.shington asking that the quota of immigrants to United States from here for the next fiscal year should be increased by many hundreds per cent. “Now Zealanders arc the best possible tyr 11 of immigrants,” he has told his Government, “They are superior to the rest.” Mr AVilbur states many New Zealanders desire to go to America but are prevented by the existing legislation.
