The Greymoutli water supply is continually causing dissiatisfactioli, the quality of water l>eing a special cause •f trouble. At last night’s meeting of the Council a motion by Mr Doogan as follows was deferred to next meeting : —‘That a Committee consisting of the Mayot, Crs. Williams, O'Brleii Bnty alld the ill over, he Set Up to liiakt 1 enquiries and report as soon as possible on: (n) the improvement of the quality of tile water supply hy ibrihging the filter be<ls into action: (b) The diminishing of the enormous expenditure in connection with the waterworks by an alteration in the engine or otherwise ; (c) generally oil the condition of the puinping station and plant.’’
At the meeting of the Greymtm-i-h Borough Council last evening, says- the
“Argus,” Cr Colclough referred to the proposed visit to the Const of the Minister of Public Works and moved the following resolution: “That a subeommittee consisting of the Deputy flavor, Crs Duty and mover he formed to meet Mr T. K. Y. Sodden. th e member for Greymoutli and go into matters in connection with the Minister's visit and to make arrangements to see that the most important town on the West Coast is not ignored as usual and, if necessary a public meeting to be called at an early date.” Cr Coldough said that they in Greymoutli had as yet received no official notice of the Minister’s visit. Ho thought the matter of getting him to visit Greymoutli should not be neglected. Cr. Doogan: Who is going to pay? We have not fixed up the visit of the Governor-General yet. Cr Colclough : 1 don’t wish to entertain the Minister at all, hut merely to see that Greymouth, as the most important town on the Coast is not neglected as it usually is. Cr. Doogan seconded the resolution which was carried.

At the Greymouth Borough Council meeting last evening it was stated the cost of the Governor General’s visit in April last was £lll 2s 2d. Of this sum the Grey County and Grey ''Harbour Board offered to pay £lO each and Cobden Town Board £5. Exception was- taken to these bodies only finding such a small proportion of the cost and the matter was deferred to enable a conference to l>e held.
