THE MEAT POOL.
ELECTION OF TELE BOARD
WELLING TON, February 15
The Producers’ Committee will meet here on the 27tli inst., to make arrangements in connexion with the Meat Export Board. , Regulations under the Act passed during the last session are being prepared.
There is a probability that one or more commercial men will be appointed on the Board. The representative of the stock and station firms will, it is stated, be a business man. Mr T. R. .Lees, of the Imperial Supplies Department, who has been advising the Meat Pool Committee, has deferred his visit to England for the present. He wins to have left New Zealand last month to enquire into matters connected with our produce trade, in the United Kingdom. It is announced that the five producers’' representatives ■ on the Meat Pool Board for the current year will be elected by the General Committee at its meeting on the 27th. inst. This is the only practicable method of electing producers’’ representatives to act right away, as the machinery and organisation for an election by general vote would necessarily take considerable time. 'File Government will el e ct two members to the Board, and the stock and station agents one member.
When the New Zealand Board is appointed, it will appoint the London agency, except the one member who will be a Government nominee.
