The semi-fiuals of the rink games were commenced about 5 p.m. and play continued until dark. The results were as follows':
W. Fletcher (Grey) 22, heat Stevenson (Hokitika.) 21, after a tie on the 21st head of 21 all.
Benjamin (Hokitika) 25. heat Blair (Grey mouth) 13.
Tlie final between Fletcher and Benjamin is to take place this morning. Owing to the rain curtailing play on Wednesday it was found necessary to cut down the time allowed for the pairs competitions, which were limited to 12 heads, and the sectional ties to 7 heads, and various rounds of the finals. This enabled the pairs competition to ho brought to a conclusion about 6.30 p.m. The elimination of the players left in in the semi-finals of the rinks from the pairs .allowed these games to ho played at 5 p.m. and they continued until it was so dark Fiat the “kitty” could hardly ho discerned. CONGRATULATORY.

Mr James (Umg) Chairman of the centre) presented me Cup to L.ie winners of the Pairs Cnaiiipjonsliip (.Messrs J. ltose and J. McLeod (s). of Westport), and in doing so congratulated ilie winners on their success. Mr McLeod returned tnanks expressing the pleasures he had had oil his visit to the town and voiced deep appreciation of the great kindness and warm hospitality extended to the visitors, specially referring to the extreme kindness of the ladies, who had made tlio visit so enjoyable.
Captain .Tulloeh (Westport) also voiced appreciation of the generous hospitality extended and the enjoyable nature of the play. Mr Ring then moved that the bowlers assembled convey to the Hokitika Club and especially its lady members their deep appreciation of the generous hospitality extended which had made the visit so enjoyable.
The motion was seconded by Mr 1). McKay who assured the other visitors that the same hospitality was always extended when Club matches were played.
Mr J. Fletcher supported congratulating all concerned in the successful running of the tournament, which had proved a great success in spite of the rain of the previous day. The motion was carried with applause. Mr Ring conveyed the vote of thanks to the ladies present, and in doing so joined in the general congratulations on the successful outcome of the gathering, paying a tribute Bo the work of the secretary and treasurer (Mr Benjamin) for the completeness of the arrangements.
Mr Calvert (Beckenham Club) supported the vote of apprecinion stating how pleased his team had been with their reception and treatment. He congratulated the West Const howlers on the high class of their play, which he assured them could not he bettered at a New Zealand tournament. He specially thanked the Indies for their generous hospitality.
JVfr It. S. Galbraith (President of the Hokitika. Club) acknowledged the vote of thanks to his Club and the Indies. He assured the visitors that it was a
labor of love. They were pleased to
know their efforts had been appreciated, and he assured them, that the Club would be glad to extend a similar hospitality on any future occasion, when the opportunity arose. Mr Benjamin thanked the speakers for their appreciative remarks, stating he was glad to give his services, and was glad to be of service.
Hearty cheers were Lien given for th e ladies, and with tfie singing of the National Anthem, the proceedings concluded.
APPRECIATION
The assistance given by the ladies committee of which Mrs Galbraith was chairwoman, assisted by the many lady supporters and friends, whom it would be difficult to individualise, in arranging and supplying the refreshments during the tournament was the subject of continual references of appreciation by the howlers. Their kind attention during the three days was very much appreciated and the Club is deeply indebted to them for their assistance and genorosity in so carefully and capably attending to the wants of the players, which aided to a very large extent in making the tournament such a decided success. The appreciation expressed at the conclusion of the play was hearty, and it was thoroughly deserved, fhe whole ararngements being carried out without a hitch, while the high quality and daintiness of the viands was also a most commendable feature.
