A grand ball will be he’d in the Rilnu Town Hall oil Wednesday, February 22ud, in aid of the' Rimu Catholic School. There will b« a waltzing 'competition with valuable prizes.
Among the final returns presented to Parliament was one, on the motion of Mr G. Mitchell (Wellington South), concerning the cost of erecting Parliament Buildings. The return shows: (1) The contract was let on December 12th., 1913, for £151,639 4s 9d; (2) th e date for completion was December !2tY 1915; (3) the contract did not include the foundations, supply of bri'eks, heating, elevators, electric lighting, bronz e work, and interior marble, which were either let in separate contracts or carried out, by the Public Works Department. The cost to date, including all charges and other contracts, fc £197,881 ; (4) the estimate to complete the unfinished portion is £37,(XK), and it is expected to bo completed in June 1922. A considerable additional sum will have to he allowed in the main contract for extra costs due to the war. A committee has been set up to ascertain exactly wTiat amount of additional cost of labour and material over and above tho schedule price can be directly attributed to the war.
