BOWLING.
WEST COAST BOWLING TOURNAMENT. FRIDAY, FEB. 17th. RINK COMPETITION. THE FINAL PLAYED.
There was perfect weather for the play in the final of the rink championship. Play commenced promptly at 10 o’clock and did not conclude uritil 1.20 p.m. 20 heads being played, but there were also five “burnt” heads. The play was of a high order, but the local team just lasted out a little better and in the end had a comfortable win by 24 toi 13. On the 7th head the score was five all ,at the 11th head 8 all, at* the 15th 9 to 17, in favour of the local team and at the 20th head 13 to 24; the last head not being played. At the conclusion of the play the winning team were photographed, and then the Chairman of The Centre (Mir J. Ring) prsented the winners with tlm usher Cup, to be herd for a year complimenting the winners on the splendid game they had put up which had given j them a well earned victory. ( Mr Benjamin skip of the winning team briefly acknowledged the gift pay : •ine. a warm tribute to the,members ot the team for the excellent support they had given him throughout, mentioning that this was thd second time the same four players had formed the winning rink for the trophy. RINK FINAL.
Hokitika. —H. A. Thompson, A. B. King, J. H. Wilson, A. E. Benjamin (s) 24 defeated Greymoiith—J. Hannan, F. Baldwin, F. Wise, W. Fletcher (s) 13. J*t is notable that Mr H. Thompson has been included in the winning rink on each of the four occasions that Hokitika has secured te trophy.
