ESCAPE FROM BRIGANDS.

Information reached London ycstcrmanager "of the Chankake ranch in day that Air Stallard a British settler. Southern Argentina, lias escaped from the brigands who recently captured him after the ranch had been sacked and destroyed, lie is now with Air Charles Reynard, a British settler, at Canava de las Vacas. Tt is also stated that large number of brigands in tlie Argentine district have surrendered with 2000 stolen horses, 500 rifles and 5,000 rounds of ammunition. Eighty prisoners held by the brigands have been released. Private cables from Argentina show, however .that marauding bands near St Julia,n have not been dealt with by the Argentine authorities and bandits have reached the River Dcseado, and that the Heras Colony has been raided and sacked.
