WEST COAST BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY I.4th,

AFTERNOON RESULTS

The first round of the tournament wafi completed yesterday before noon and an adjournment was made for lunch. The second round commenced at 1 p.m. and was completed by 3.45 p.m. and the third round was commenced at 4p.m and finished by 6.30 p.m. except for one rink that played out the full allotted time dud then only completed 20 heads, a number of •burnt” heads causing some delay. In the afternoon as a result of the roller having been used during the lunch adjournment, assisted by the hot sun, the green was extremely fast, almost fiery, and many players were considerably at sea in regard to strength. The green played capitally, and was very true, and won the approval and commendation of the players for its quality. During both morning and afternoon a bevy of ladies, (supporters of the local Club supplied the players and visitors with tea and eatables and the large family had their wants attended to in regal style, both quality and quantity, daintily served, being a happy feature of this most satisfactory attention to the wants of the players. The whole of yesterday’s play passed

off very enjoy ably and suocesstuuy beautiful day though very warm for the players, making for the general success. The following are the results of yesterdav afternoon’s play : ‘ SECOND ROUND. Section B. —Stevenson (Hokitika) and Harrison (Westport) 2 wins each to play off. Section C W. Blair (Grey) 3 wins. Section D.- Benjamin (Hokitika) 3 wins. TO-DAY’S PLAY. Heavy rain fell throughout the night and continued this morning with the result that at 8 o'clock the'green was a sheet of water, and of necessity play could not take place. The weather lightened towards noon and the water drained off. If the weather holds up the Pairs competition will be commenced this afternoon, the various games being limited to 12 heads.
