Advice from Mayence states the darigers lurking in various spots, as a result of the war, are shown by two disasters, whereby children who were playing round a dump near Friedland when a shell burst killing nine; similar accidents took place at Perigeux as some children were examining the fuse of a shell which was still charged. The fuse exploded, and twelve were wounded, five seriously nnd a school master was wounded necessitating the amputation of an arm.

Tlie Appeal Court annulled the Rutherford divorce decree cabled on 14th June, following on Richardson decision cabled on the 30th. November. The Court granted a judicial separation w• ih the custody of the children. WHITE AUSTRALIA. (Received This Day at 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, February 13. Hon. Montagu informs the Australian Press that no reference .was made or implied in his speech to a "White Australian policy, because tlie question of Indians entering the Commonwealth was regarded a« settled by the reciprocity Agreement of 1918. Montagu, asserts he was referring exclusively to the treatment of Indians in the Crown colonies and to any suggestion that they should he excluded from such colonies especially Kenya.
