The British Clearing Office, which was established to clear the indebtedness between the nationals of the British Empire and Germany hn« issued a report showing the claims lodged against Germany amounted to £52,431,202, of which £17,200,567 were admitted. and with interest at 5 per <ent were paid. The Gentian P lnims totalled £36,217,423, of which £7.416.251 were admitted and paid. A cablegram has been received from the Imperial authorities requesting the New Zealand Government to nominate a representative in Berlin to take over, in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles, securities relating to the Dominion and to give discharge therefore. The High Commission had been authorised to appoint a representative for N<’w Zealand. It is announced that the total amount of claims forwarded to the German Clearing Office on account of New Zealand nationals to 30th. which have been collected by the New Zealand Clearing Office, and admitted through the Central Clearing Office up to lltli. November, 1920, amount to £15,115, plus interest £4,734, making a total of 18,849.
