AMUSEMENTS.

PICTURES. “THE THUNDERBOLT” TO-NIGHT. “The Thunderbolt” at the Princess Theatre to-night is Katherine McDonald’s second starring First National production, and is remarkable in more ways than one. The story is powerful and daring in theme, and is presented in so convincing manner as Jo fairly grip the attention throughout. Based on a woman’s sacred right to motherhood, the .drama seethes through dynamic situations, beginning with the startling discovery of the young bride that her husband has married ,her in ■hatred Instead of .love, and Jo com- ) plete the last act in a family feud, has decreed that she shall be childless, and her name shall die with her. Tom Meighan as the husband, repeats his “Miracle Man” success, .while Katherine McDonald’s flawless presentation of the young bride of the strangest

marriage on record is beyond criticism. For theme there is a woman who chose i a loveless marriage in preference to a public scandal. She weds a man spurred by feudal bate to compel her to marriage, so that be may wreck vengeance on her family by throttling the i mother instinct and causing her race to

die with her. The most impressive feature of the picture is the characterisation Miss McDonald gives of the spirited girl of loyalty and intelligence. Slie is ever quiet and refined, and stands out as a bright star in a dark sky. Brilliant contrast is furnished by Tom Meighan as the husband. The supports to-night are a Pathe Gazette, a Path*! Review a nd a Pathe comedy two reels, featuring Harold .Lloyd entitled Capt Kidd’s Kids.” Pollard’s Symphony Orchestra will play the incidental music for this big display.
