Heavy rains, followed by floods in tho Longi'caeh district, caused severe losses of cattle and sheep. It is estimated that 100,000 sheep have perished between Longreaeh and Wintori.

A second shark tragedy occurred at Pittwater. A suiveyor named Norman Whiteley, stated bis intention of going to bathe alone and was not again seen till portion of bis mangled body was found in the water.

The Inter-state Conference on venereal diseases resolved in favour of legislation requiring the production of medical certificates of freedom from venereal diseases, from each eonti acting parties before a carriage could bo performed by any legally authorised person. Other resolutions favoured a campaign with the object of more effectively instructing the public with a view to co-operating with medicos dealing with these diseases.
