Sheep Dipping.
THE SOUTH ISLAND SYSTEM
.13LISNHEIM, Feb. 0.
Replying to the Marlborough Farmers’ Union, which has been pressing for a curtailment of the compulsory sheepdipping period, Mr A. R. Young, Director of the Live Stock Division, explains that any variation could only be effected by means of an amendment to the Stock Act. It would be in many ways inadvisable to have different periods for different districts, but if it is found possible to make the dipping period uniform as regards both the North and South Islands, he would be pleased to support an alteration accordingly. Mr Young thanked the Marlborough, executive for the interest it had been taking in the matter of ticky sheep, and assured that anything that would help towards the eradication of lice and ticks, would have his wholehearted support ,as lie realised that many owners were absolutely indifferent to the condition of the flock in. this respect. ' , The executive decided to communicate with all the other provincial executives on this side of the Strait, and ask them if they nrq agreeable to an alteration of the time allowed foi* dipping, and suggesting that till March 31'st is late enough.
