In the trial of Roseoe Arbuekle, the jury disagreed, 10 out .of the 12 being for his conviction. Following up the discharge of the jury, which announced its disagreement 1 after forty hours’ deliberations, the Coqrt adjourned till Monday. i The District Attorney (Mr Brady) ! stated informally that, in view of the ; majority of the jurors favouring a conviction, be would likely press for a third trial. DEBTS TO U.S.A. WASHINGTON, Feb. 3. The U.S.A. House of Representatives have adopted the Foreign Debt Bill, with the Senate’s amendments providing that the interest shall not he lower than 4£ per cent. The bonds will mature in 24 years. President Harding has withdrawn his objection to the amendments. CANCER RESEARCH. OTTAWA, February 3. Lord Atholstan has added 100,000 dollars to the recent offer of a similar amount fo r a cancer cure, the additional sum being for research work".
