The second wool sale of current season was held to-day when catalogues aggregating 12,001 bales were submitted, the average quality being fully up to the usual standard for a January sale. There wa s a large attendance of home, foreign and colonial buyers and competition was spirted, jspecially for the better descriptions. Hie demand for merino was especially reen and also for fine half bred, which ;old on a par with rate s ruling at Dunedin. The demand for three-quar-;ers bred was erratic. Up to noon he range of prices wa 8 merino to 19:1 lalf bred 16£d.
