The Canterbury Amateur Athletic Championship meeting was held to-day in fine weather. Interest was added to the fixture by the presence of the 'South 'African, athletics, who competed with a good measure of success. Time 10 1-5. 120 Yards Hurdles Championship— W. B. Buckhurst 1, R. 8. Thompson 2. Won easily. Time 16 3-5 Long Jump Championship.— W. H. Buckhurst 1, O. Goodman 2. Distance 20feet lin. Pole Vault Championship— W. H. Batsone 1, G. Batsone 2. Hie winner vaulted 10 feet. llin. 400 yards Championship.—R. Johnston (Africa) 1, C. Goodman (Canterbury) 2, W. A. Ford (Canterbury) 3; Won by 12 yards. Time 50 2-5. Throwing the Javelin Championship _w. H. Buckhurst 124 feet 2in 1, C. Goodman 2. 020yds. Championship,—Kinsman (Africa) 1, Burkes (Africa) 2, Garrick (Canterbury) 3. Won by two yards. Time 22 1-5. 880 yards Cham p tons hip.—C. H. Taylor (Canterbury), D. Leathern (Africa) 2.
