The number of unemploy- I ed is steadily growing and the position is regarded as very serious. INDUSTRIAL CRISIS. SYDNEY, ’Jan. 28. Unless a remedy is quickly found an industrial crisis will have to he faced. The employed are clamouring for action by the Government to relieve the situation, hut the latter’s hands arc tied hv lack of funds. Government is I. opposed to a proposal that the Board j of Trade again review the basic wage, 1 as it is not in favour of a further reduction at the present time.
