FORESTRY LEGISLATION.
MORE HOPEFUL OUTLOOK
The representations being made from the Coast in regard to the latest forestry legislation are now having some effect on the authorities.
Rt Hon W, F. Massey, Prime Miniser, replied to the local bodies as follows:—“Your telegram regarding proposed amendment Forestry Bill by Legislative Council received. Your representations have been duly placed before the Minister in charge of measure for consideration.
Mr Seddon, M.P. wired“ Position about reservations is that rights are preserved also conversion into licenses. Sir F. D. Bell to make sure is holding over signature to bill to insert necessary amendment. Have submitted two amendments.”
The inter-position of Mr Seddon has evidently been rather opportune and will be appreciated generally.
