The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received the following further information as to the wreck of the TT.B. Stirling, from the supertineiident of the radio station at Awnnui: “The following message has been received from the Melbourne at 2 p.m. It begins: “Following are the names of those from the H.B. Stirling now on hoard the Melbourne, proceeding to Auckland, all well Captain G. H. Harris; first mate, J. Frances; wireless operator, R. IT. Shaw; apprentice, A. Callaghan; A.B’s, J. Allan, F. Fans, J. Campbell, S. Yates, G. Hebbots, J. lioarke, F. Ollens; ordinary seaman A. Newick; cook, A. Bullough; cabin hoy, J. Benton; Mrs G. Harris, Mrs J. Harris and Master Leslie Harris.”

ABANDONED 'TO-DAY. • AUCKLAND, January 24. The H.M.S. Melbourne wirelessed that she was meeting with heavy weather and was not expected to arrive at Auckland till midnight. Tlie following message from Duinarez was received by the Chatham from the Melbourne: “Schooner Helen B. Sterling leaking badly, was abandoned at G a.m. to-day. Position thirty degrees fifty five minutes south, 168 degrees and fifty minutes oast. Drifting south-west at about one knot.” She was deep in the water and was considered by the master and officers as likely to sink in a few hours in the prevailing weather. Tn calm weather she might float for some time. The ship was upright, three masts standing. The master, crew, two wives and one child are proceeding to Auckland in the Melj bourne. All are well.
