Record prices were realised for comebacks, Bradford paying twenty-four pence. LOAN rushed. MELBOURNE, January 24. The Water Boards 6i per cent' loan of half a million for new work, with a currency of six years, was rushed and oversubscribed. QUEENSLAND LOAN. BRISBANE, anuary 24. In reply to an agitation in favour of using coloured labour in Northern Territory, a movement has started to form North Australia White Settlement Association, the objective being to keep the territory All White. The project will ultimately involve big immigration and colonisation schemes,i butj initial activities aim at ascertaining and removing the causes of failure of previous attempts at land settlement, to secure better transport, facilitate the establishment of suitable industries, and provide conditions to make it possible for white women and children to live comfortably in the territory.
THE BARQUE’S CARGO. SYDNEY, January 24. The owner of the Helen B. Sterling states she carried a cargo ,of twentyfive hundred tons of coal. Neither vessel nor cargo were insured. There is reason to believe that lho vote will be adverse to the proposal.
