In connection with the recent robbery at I’aekakariki railway station refreshment rooms, when a safe containing £2OO was taken and forced open ,md thrown in a. gully, Detectives today arrested on the Trentham Racecourse, a man named Eric Malcolm Biel a resident of Masterton, who is .•barged with the offence. -- THE LADBURY INQUEST. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 23. At the inquest on Ladbury evidence -.vas given that deceased appeared to have fallen over a high bank. Medical evidence was to the effect that deceased bad been strangled by his collar, while unconscious from a fall. Death was duo to suffocation. There was no fracture of the neck.
The Coroner passed a verdict according to the medical evidence. ARBITRATION COURT. DUNEDIN, January 23. The following telegram has been forwarded to Mr Roberts, Secretary of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour by the Otago Transport Workers’ Advisory Board, after special meeting: “Make an emphatic protest on our t>ehalf against the proposed amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Court. We. pledge our wWole-hearted support 'to any steps you may deem necessary to defeat same.”
