At the tallow sales, 2816 casks were offered and 397 sold at from late rates to six pence' decline. Mutton sorts were 42s Od to 38s; beef 42s and 375. At the mixed wool sale here, there wag a large offering of merino wool, especially sooureds and 1 very good competition, the Continent, including Germany, operating freely. There also was some demand from the United States. Best sorts were 5 per cent above the opening rates, and average lots sold at full rates. Cross-breds were in brisk demand at full prices The cargo market here is firm, being 3d to Od above yesterday’s rates at the close Sellers of Australian January new wheat, at Liverpool, are asking 49s 6d. In consequence of complaints of. toydumping from Germany, due. to the depreciation of exchange, the Board of Trade has appointed a committee of enquiry under the safe-guarding of Industries Act.
