THE COUNCIL. . WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Country Telephones Lines Amendment Bill was received from the House and was read a first time. The Council agreed to the Governor General’s, amendment io the Auckland Electric Power Beards Bill and Counties Bill. Sir F. I). Bell moved the second reading of the Divorce and .Matrimonial Clauses Amendment. The second reading was carried 'ey 25 to 4, the opponents being lions Cohen, Gow, MacGregor, ami Samuel. Tire Insurance Companies Deposits Bril and Life Insurance Bills were put through the final stages and passed. The Shops and Offices Bill was reported from the Labour Bills Committee, with amendments. Trie Council rose at 4.5 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met,at 2.30 p.m. The Imprest Supply Bill, No. 3, appropriating £3,7t'-7,300 was put through all stages after a lengthy debate. The Harbours Bill and Mousing Bril were also introduced, and head a first time. The House rose at 11.0 p.m.
