BIG SYNDICATES PROPOSED.
CANNES, January it , A communique states that the Supreme Council have approved of the establishment of an international syndicate, with affiliated national syndicates, to undertake the economic reconstruction of Europe, and to secure the co-operation of all nations in restoiing normal prosperity. The council has accepted a proposal that a committee composed of two British one French, one Italian one Belgian, and one Japanese representative should immediately be constituted to thus examine the scheme, and to proceed with the organisation of the proposed international and affiliated syndicates and to report to the Genoa Economic Conference. LENIN AGREES TO CAPITALISM. LONDON, Jan. 10. The London “Morning Post’s” correspondent states: —“Investigation in thoroughly trustworthy Russian sources show* that before Mr Lloyd George left for Cannes, lie bad been informed by the Soviet Government that they were now prepared, in view of the desperate condition of Russia, to abandon all pretence at enforcing Communism, and that they will place the industrial possibilities of Russia under a capitalist regime. This would be done on condition that France and Britain recognise the Russian Government, and that they resume normal trade relations, including the arranging of a large international loan for Russia’s benefit. In return the Soviet will recognise all the Russian debts that were incurred under the C'zarist regime. j M.
