I Received This Dav at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, Jan 10. M r Griffiths was elected President •£ the Dail Eireann ,and appointed Mr Collins as Minister of Finance, Mr Duffy as. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Duggan to Home Office, Mr Cosgrove as Minister of Local Government, Mr Higgins as Minister of Economics, Mr Muleahy, Minister of Defence. When the Dail Eireann met a message was read from the Pope rejoicing with the Irish people on the agreement reached with England. Mr Collins moved the motion fob Mr Griffiths’ election to the Presidency. ELECTING THE PRESIDENT. (Received This Dav at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 10 There was a sensational scene over Mr Griffiths election. Etohingham was speaking in opposition to the motion when Walsh moved that the question be put. Boland, Childers and otliei leading De Valeraites, rose in protest. Do Valera also rose declaring he could not remain in the,Chamber while the election motion was being put. He thereupon walked out, accompanied bj 65 memliers. The motion was unanimously carried.

U The address presented to De Valera by Doctor O’Reilly mentioned in yesterday’s cable, was adopted at a convention of the Hibernian Australasian. Society, held in Sydney in connection with the golden jubilee of the .Society. It stated “50,000 members of the Society are solidly behind President Do Valera in Ireland’s stand for self determination, and pray that the present negotiations will result in securing for Ireland the aspirations of her people.”
