The Reefton Jockey Club opened its Midsummer Meeting on Saturday m lovely weather, and before a fan y large attendance. The sum of £<,o‘lb passed through the ItoHMiskttor against £11,784 on the first day last Trial Handicap—Woodrow 1, Tantalus 2 Divorce 3. Also started—Counter (Attack, Benefit. Irish Elegance, Timepiece. Won by the barest of margins, Divorce a neck away. Time 1.15 l-o. Ferndale Handicap—Weary Willie 1, Samarang 2, Marauder 3. Also started—Kilderg, Wolthea, Golden Moi-tt, Golden Venture, Lady Pallas. Kilderg stumbled throwing his rider (Porter) who fortunately escaped injury. Won with a bit to spare, third horse a length away. Time 1.3. Junction Trot —Petrix 1, Dilemma 2, Some Rose 3. Also started— Tassy M, Roose veldt. Crusader, Dick B, Little Ben Dillon Patch. Dillon Patch did not move off. Won by S head. Time 2 23 3-5 Reefton Clip—Lord Ashlea 1, Mythology 2. Caverock 3. Won by a nose, Also started Cheer Up, Lady Middle ton, Prince Ferouz, Falstaff, Orange Mart, Tiranga. Time 2.8. Sherwood Handicap—Flying Master 1. Marble Bar 2, Redsome 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.16, Soldiers Trot—Apres Moi T, Crusader 2, M's* Marion 3. Also started—Cple Drift, Armature, Palmdale, Teneriffe, Rainbow, and Silveretta. Won bv half a length. Time 3.42}. L3l. Progress Handicap—Hady Pallas 1, Flying Master 2, Sandy McDonald 3. Also started—Carnbrae, Merton, Embezzler, Marauder, Wolthea. Embezzler was very fractions at the post and after several unsuccessful attempts to get hint to face the barrier the filld was dispatched without him. Won by a nose. Time 1.16 1-5.
