A lengthy lively meeting of the executive of the Australian Labour Party turned down. The Government proposal that the selection of candidates at the coming elections should be left in Government hands. The 'Electoral Council’s conduct and own selection of the ballots' is -regarded as a decided knock to the Government, which urge the need of immediate preparedness m view of the nearness of the elections and therefore favoured leaving the selections in the( hands of the Executive.
